Dear Members of Our CPC Family,
It’s hard to believe, but here we are approaching the final quarter of 2018, looking forward to watching our church grow in 2019!
As noted in the vision statement for our church, we profess ourselves to be “a living, evolving, dynamic Christian congregation” and with your help, the Stewardship Committee has been striving for just that. We have been opening our doors and reaching out into the community to connect with our neighbors. You have proven to us that CPC is composed of an active, joyful group of people ready and willing to do the work Christ sets before us. A tree with many branches requires a strong trunk, and so we take seriously the responsibility to ensure our church will operate, function and work towards God’s call.
We are excited to announce a new staffing plan! Our Personnel Committee and Session have decided to table the Associate Pastor and instead, split those needs into three separate positions; Youth Director, Christian Education Director, and Commissioned Lay Pastor. We have already hired Betsy Whirley as our Youth Director, and we are working on finding the right people for the other two positions. We do plan to look within our congregation first, as these positions are truly personal in nature and it would be great to have staff who already understand our values. As we consider our pledges for the year, contemplate what the addition of new staff will add to our church, both practically and spiritually.
For this year’s Stewardship Drive, we are looking at the whole picture. To support both the Operating Budget and the Building Fund in 2019, we need $400,000 in pledges. That will fulfill our monthly mortgage/roof payment ($5,521), as well as our daily operating budget including the three new staff positions. As always, your pledge card allows you to allocate your giving between the two funds. We have made such amazing progress as a congregation of givers, so let us be mindful, prayerful and joyful as we consider continued support for our church.
Enclosed you will find a pledge card for 2019. Please return your pledge card by our fall Kick-off Sunday, September 9. You will find several options for fulfilling your pledge this year: By cash or check (weekly/monthly/annually) with or without envelopes, by electronic transfer (a form is included in this mailing), or through e-Giving options (details coming soon!).
Thank you, church family! Thank you for making Community Presbyterian Church an open, warm, astoundingly generous place of worship. We have the chance to make a real difference in our world by shouting from our rooftop the respect and love we have for our fellow humans as set forth by Jesus Christ.
With profound appreciation,
Your CPC Stewardship Team
