Dear Members of Our CPC Family,
As we approach the final quarter of 2017, we look forward to a new and dynamic year at CPC in 2018. Our vision statement calls us to live in the joy of the Spirit, and that joy is evident in the amazing number of people who give of their time and talents. As we were planning the Volunteer Fair that followed yesterday’s service, we were inspired to see just how much happens behind the scenes of our church. We hope that you enjoyed the fair, and found a way to support our church in a way that lives out our vision as a place which invites you to experience spirituality, participation, relationship, respect and celebration.
As our church has grown, our leadership is concerned that programs for youth, Christian education, and outreach are missing opportunities to grow. Working with Pastor Kim, our session is challenging our congregation to support the hiring of a full-time associate pastor! The Associate Pastor will help in all areas of ministry at CPC, but will focus on growing and supporting our youth programs. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Now, more than ever, we need the village of Community Presbyterian Church to show our support, and raise the funds necessary to hire an additional staff person.
You may recall we started 2017 with a projected budget deficit of over $50,000, which we since have closed. A hearty thank you to all who increased their giving in 2017. Additionally, we continue to make substantial progress on our building fund. We anticipate that strong giving over the past years will allow us to again re-amortize the loan resulting in a lower interest rate and lower monthly payments. The progress we have made together is amazing, and we thank you for your diligent support of our wonderful building.
With this year’s stewardship drive, we are challenged to increase giving in support of the Operating Fund to add a second pastor, while continuing the strong history of support for our Building Fund. To reach this goal, we need to increase annual pledges to the Operating Fund by $105,000. That’s a big number, but we know when we come together, we can achieve this. Please prayerfully consider what you can do to move the church toward this goal.
Enclosed you will find a pledge card. Please thoughtfully consider your gift to our church community, and return your card to the church by October 15. This year, we have limited the pledge card to two areas, Operating Fund and Building Fund. All costs to run the church aside from the mortgage are included in the Operating Fund. If you would like to designate a donation specifically toward paying down the building loan, please include that amount under Building Fund.
As we embark on this stewardship campaign, we want to again say thank you. Thank you for believing in the mission of Community Presbyterian Church. Thank you for promoting peace in our church, in our community, and in our world. Thank you for your support as we plan for the future, working to fill our congregation with more young families and children. None of this is possible without YOU!
With deepest appreciation,
CPC Stewardship Team
