Community Presbyterian Church has enjoyed over 30 years of handbell
ringing as a part of its music program. Carol Adamson and Anita
Johnston organized the beginning of the program in the late 1970's. We
began with three bell choirs: Junior Jinglers (elementary),
Tintinnabulators (middle school and high school) and Jubilee Ringers
(adults). At its height in participation, due to increased interest
and class size, we had two high school groups and a separate middle
school choir (Holy Tollers). Currently we are back to three choirs:
Holy Tollers (Gr. 4-6), Tintinnabulators (Gr. 7-12) and Jubilee Ringers
(adults).
The bell choirs participate in worship once a month and present
concerts in December and May. They also attend a number of regional
and national handbell events throughout the upper midwest.
Some of our graduating seniors have gone on to ring bells at Concordia
College in Moorhead, MN and the College of St. Olaf in Northfield, MN.
The bell choirs are currently under the direction of Darcy Reich,
Director of Music.
Previous directors have included Carol Adamson, Anita Johnston, Ardyce
Thurston and Beth Hallen.
We welcome anyone interested in participating in the handbell program
to contact the church office or Darcy Reich (darreich@mchsi.com).
The rehearsal schedule is as follows: Holy Tollers (Gr. 4-6)
Wednesday, 3:30-4:15
Tintinnabulators (Gr. 7-12) Wednesday, 6:15-7:00
Jubilee Ringers (adults) Thursday, 5:30-6:30
All rehearsals take place in the church sanctuary.
